Game Preview: Pittsburgh Pirates at Colorado Rockies

The Rockies will return home after a disastrous 1-9 road trip, but the hard times are not over. They face a hot Pittsburgh team and a pitcher who confounded their offense at PNC Park less than a week ago.

Though the Rockies are looking to find a boost from their return home to Coors Field, they still face an uphill battle.  Pittsburgh is tied with two other teams- Boston and Atlanta- with the most wins in the majors.  After the series win against Colorado and their three game sweep of Florida, the Pirates are currently enjoying a 5 game winning streak and have won 9 out of 11 games.

This is something of a rematch of last Saturday's game, as Jorge De La Rosa will take on Francisco Liriano.  While both pitchers are having solid seasons, Liriano has benefited from being backed by such a strong team and currently owns a 12-4 record.  Last Saturday's start was all about Liriano, however:  he pitched seven innings of 2-hit ball against the hapless Rockies.

De La Rosa has struggled in his last couple of starts:  in last Saturday's match, he made it through only four innings and allowed three runs off of six hits and two walks.  In his previous start in Atlanta, he fared even worse, allowing five runs off of 10 hits and two walks in five innings of work.

Troy Tulowitski, Todd Helton, and Dexter Fowler have struggled immensely in the disastrous road trip, and Walt Weiss left them off of yesterday's starting lineup in hopes of giving them a break.
