Jhoulys Chacin (13-8 3.09 ERA) has pitched at least seven innings in his last four starts, if he continues that trend the Rockies could be able to win a road series in Arizona for the first time since last October. Chacin's brilliance has been well documented this season and he needs just 10.2 innings to tie his career high in innings of 194 set back in 2011. Chacin also could see his ERA dip below three if he finishes the season strong, a feat rarely accomplished for a pitcher making Coors Field his home. His road ERA has been a remarkable 2.10 and in two starts against Arizona this season, Chacin is 2-0. However, Chacin has not faced Arizona since May 21st.
Randall Delgado (4-6 4.04 ERA) will counter Chacin and although he has struggled lately, he's shown the ability to dominate a lineup. The 23 year old from Panama has a lot of promise, but in his last start, he showed that there are still going to be some growing pains. Delgado lasted just 2.2 innings allowing five runs against a potent Dodgers lineup. Holding down the Rockies offense could be a bit easier, especially with Michael Cuddyer out of the lineup.
The Rockies lineup features just two Opening Day starters in Troy Tulowitzki and Josh Rutledge, the latter of which was recently brought back to the majors. The season has long been over for the Rockies, but in looking towards next season it will be important to see how players such as Rutledge, Corey Dickerson, Jordan Pacheco, and Charlie Blackmon all battle for spots on next years 25 man roster. The game starts at 2:10 MT and if you aren't too busy watching the Manning bowl give it a watch!
