The Arizona Diamondbacks, perhaps still fuming from their division-conceding loss to the Los Angeles Dodgers on Thursday, have asked the Colorado Rockies not to honor retiring veteran Todd Helton during the teams' weekend series at Coors Field.
Arizona feels it is totally within its right to make such a request, just as it was right to tell the Dodgers they couldn't celebrate their division title after a 7-6 victory at Chase Field in Phoenix.
"We're here to play gritty, gutty baseball, not to celebrate the accomplishments of a player or team," said a D-Backs spokesperson while trimming his or her beard.
"Frankly, I'm tired of people making a mockery of our game," the spokesperson added.
When asked for his comment on the situation, D-Backs infielder Willie Bloomquist simply mumbled something about "class," although his exact words were unclear.
So far, there has been no word on whether or not the Rockies will abide by Arizona's request.
Oh, and this article is totally serious. Totally. Just ask AZ Snakepit (please don't).
