After last night's barn-burning classic of a baseball game, the Pirates/Giants National League Wild Card game has big shoes to fill. Maybe it will be another classic, or maybe it will be a blow out.
Both the Pirates and the Giants are pretty fun teams. Due to the bad blood between the Rockies and the Giants, we are required to root against them, but I must admit that I enjoy watching Buster Posey, Hunter Pence, and Pablo Sandoval play baseball. Madison Bumgarner, starting for the Giants, is one of the best pitchers in the game.
The Pirates have some cool dudes too, starting with reigning MVP Andrew McCutchen. But their hopes and dreams are tied to the start of...Edison Volquez? The same guy who washed out of San Diego not long ago? Apparently he found himself in Pittsburgh, but consider me dubious.
It's playoff baseball. As we saw last night, anything could happen. Go Pirates!
