Ryan Casteel singled, walked and drove in a run and Christian Bergman pitched two scoreless innings in relief en route to the win in the Salt River Rafters' 2-1 victory over the Glendale Desert Dogs in Arizona Fall League action on Saturday.
Casteel, an infield/catching prospect for the Rockies, hit a two-out single in the top of the first inning to get the Rafters on the board.and drew a walk later in the game. He and Twins prospect Eddie Rosario were the only players in Salt River's lineup to reach base more than once.
Bergman, who started 10 games for Colorado's major league club in 2014, threw all 18 of his pitches for strikes according to the box score (which may or may not be correct) and worked around a pair of singles while notching a strikeout. Bergman recorded four ground-ball outs, the last of which resulted in an inning-ending double play in the fifth.
Trevor Story went 0-for-3 with a walk and a strikeout. Chris O'Dowd, a taxi squad catcher making his first appearance of the fall, also went 0-for-3 with a strikeout.
Ken Roberts worked a scoreless sixth and has not allowed a run in three AFL innings. He allowed a leadoff single before getting top Dodgers prospect Corey Seager to ground into a double play, then recorded the third out of the inning on a fly out. Roberts threw only three pitches in the inning (again, according to the box score).
The Rafters are back in action at 1:35 p.m. MT today against the Surprise Saguaros. Nelson Gonzalez is expected to make a relief appearance. Check back here a little bit later for lineups.
