Depending on who you ask, today the Colorado Rockies have either made a massive change, no change, some change, or mostly cosmetic changes.

One thing remains a constant: despite a chorus of certitude that they wouldn't, the Rockies have made a change.

As you've undoubtdetly heard, co-GMs Bill Geivett and Dan O'Dowd stepped down today and are being replaced internally by 37-year-old Harvard grad Jeff Bridich.

Even without all the details in (and stay tuned to Purple Row in the coming days as they spill out) there is still plenty of reaction on all sides of this decision. In a recent poll taken here on Purple Row (with over 1,200 votes), a plurality of 39 percent claimed their position as wanting both of these men gone but not trading either Troy Tulowitzki or Carlos Gonzalez.

This suggests that Rockies fans are more certain about who the problem is than about what it is. It also shows that while this was majority opinion, it was not overwhelmingly so. Now that the Rockies have actually done what many fans hoped -- but never actually thought -- they would do, what are some initial reactions?

I'm skeptical as long as the GM promotion was from within.

Although perhaps Geivett's and O'Dowd's departures make the team president's role more palatable for an outsider. Then again, Monfort may be MLB's Jerry Jones, in which case nothing changes. But we'll see.  -RoctoMom

Admittedly, when I first read that both of them had resigned, I had hope, and then I saw they immediately replaced them from within, and I declared myself teamless. I just don't want O'Dowd as the GM anymore, but I would love to have kept him in the organization. -Gaiacreation

What in the wide wide world of sports is going on here?

Just when i thought there would be no good news today, you go and tell me this. So your saying we have a chance? In other news, Grimace will be replacing Dinger this season. -derrick33

This makes my day. Not that I wish anyone ill, but it needed to happen. Also happy for Bridich. - vfc3

Good start, now hire Levine or someone similar to be team president and get this ship headed in another direction. -DenverPoke

We all wanted a GM from outside the organization. We want Monfort to step down from team president, so this isn't ideal. But we have a guy who has only been in the organization for 3 years, and hopefully he can bring a new culture with new ideas to the organization. Other employees who worked under O'Dowd have gone on to become successful GM's elsewhere, so Bridich could be the next Levine. -wolf213

Ding, Dong, O Dowd is gone...

So happy about a change after 15 years. -firedinger
