Rockies prospect Trevor Story notched two hits for the second consecutive day for the Salt River Rafters, who earned a 6-3 victory over the Scottsdale Scorpions in Arizona Fall League play on Wednesday.
Story, who went 2-for-4 in the AFL opener, singled, doubled and walked in five plate appearances while serving as second baseman in his second start. The 21-year-old infielder struck out two more times, raising his total to four in two games. However, Story is 4-for-8 with two doubles and appears to be swinging the bat well heading into a day off on Thursday.
While Story will be out of the lineup, Taylor Featherston will start for the second straight game on Thursday. Featherston singled, walked and scored a run in his AFL debut Wednesday. He also struck out twice.
Christian Bergman was used as a reliever and gave up all three runs allowed by the Rafters. Bergman surrendered three hard-hit singles and a wild pitch but was hurt by errors from Story and Byron Buxton. The 26-year-old right-hander struck out two batters in his only inning of work.
Ryan Casteel will join Double-A teammate Featherston in the Rafters' lineup, batting third and playing first base on Thursday against Mesa in a 7:35 p.m. MT contest. Casteel went hitless in his start on Tuesday and didn't play Wednesday.
