Ryan Casteel, Taylor Featherston help Salt River win Arizona Fall League title

We probably should have told you this a couple days ago, but two former Tulsa Drillers combined for four hits and six RBI in the AFL Championship Game.

Rockies prospects Ryan Casteel and Taylor Featherston had two hits and three runs batted in apiece to help the Salt River Rafters clinch the Arizona Fall League championship over the weekend with a 14-7 victory over the Peoria Javelinas.

With the Rafters down by a pair of runs in the bottom of the sixth inning, Casteel launched a game-tying homer off of Indians minor league reliever Louis Head, beginning a string of nine unanswered runs for Salt River. Casteel plated another run on a single in following inning and scored a couple of at-bats later on Featherston's bases-clearing double, which put the game out of reach.

Ken Roberts was scored upon for the first time in AFL play, allowing three runs on two hits including a home run. The 26-year-old left-hander hadn't been scored upon in 14⅓ innings prior to the title game.

We will have a full review of each Rockies representative's performance in the AFL in the coming days.

The Padres are still accepting trade offers for Ian Kennedy, Andrew Cashner and Tyson Ross, according to Ken Rosenthal. For Cashner and Ross, I would be willing to break my "stay away from San Diego pitchers" rule. For the Rockies, Jeff Bridich has already stated making a trade would be the best way to upgrade the club's starting pitching. Might he and his staff attempt a move here?

Major League Baseball at Samurai Japan - November 18, 2014 | MLB.com Gameday
The MLB All-Stars picked up their second and final win of the Japan Series early Tuesday morning, knocking off Samurai Japan, 3-1. Rockies first baseman Justin Morneau walked twice and capped off a 10-pitch plate appearance with a left-on-left double in the ninth inning. Franklin Morales didn't pitch, so that's probably a good thing.
