If baseball history is as much your thing as it is mine, then Christmas comes on November 15th this year.
The Rocky Mountain chapter of SABR (the Society for American Baseball Research) is holding a banquet on November 15th featuring keynote speaker, former major league closer, and Colorado native Brad Lidge as well as the grandson of hall-of-famer Ty Cobb, Herschel Cobb.
From the events website:
The event will be held on Saturday, November 15th, 2014 at the Denver Athletic Club, 1325 Glenarm Place in downtown Denver. Additionally, our Featured Speaker will be Herschel Cobb, grandson of the great Hall of Famer, Ty Cobb. Mr. Cobb recently completed a book on his relationship with his grandfather.
There will be a Silent Auction of outstanding baseball memorabilia and artifacts during the banquet, so remember to bring your checkbooks!
Tickets for the banquet are $60.00.
Tickets can be purchased on the site here.
I'll be there (nowhere near the incentive as Ty Cobb's grandson) as will a plethora of some of the smartest baseball people you're likely to find in one place at one time. Come out and celebrate this magnificent game.
