As you all know, a new era of the Colorado Rockies is being ushered in. Not so coincidentally, the same thing is happening at Purple Row, where we aim to continue to provide the best place for coverage and discussion of the team at 20th and Blake. With that in mind, we're ready to announce our second -- and likely final -- round of staff additions for 2015 and (hopefully) beyond.
Assistant editor: Eric Garcia McKinley
Game coverage: Ted Chalfen, Nick Stephens
Minor league coverage: Dan Madigan, Thomas Wilson
Fan Experience Series author: Jared Buck
Social media: Tim Boettcher, Thomas Gifford
Eric joins us from Rockies Zingers, where he spent the 2014 season covering the Rockies in his own brilliantly analytical and thought-provoking way. Prior to that, Eric served a brief stint at Rox Pile. He has been a member of our community for quite some time, engaging in thoughtful (and civil!) discussion on the reg. He will be assisting me with mostly weekend editorial coverage on the site (including breaking news, picking up available scheduled posts, some copy editing and social media here and there, etc.). He'll also be writing a weekly column, which is going to be a heck of a lot of fun to read. I'm looking forward to that a ton.
Ted and Nick are current commenters on the site. You might know them better as The Ghost of Marv Throneberry and NickS94, respectively. Their additions will allow us to better execute a consistent plan for game coverage that will include two people for each game splitting preview, game thread, quick recap and extended analysis duties.
Dan has already written one piece for the site and has technically been a member of the staff for a couple of months, but he'll be establishing himself a bit more in the coming weeks before really getting started in April, when he'll provide coverage of the Double-A New Britain Rock Cats. Thomas has filled in for Charlie on a couple of occasions on the weekly prospect report that is published during the season. He brings to us a strong knowledge of the system and a realistic grasp on the importance of prospects. You may know him as TomCat009.
During the season, Jared will be writing about the Fan Experience at Coors Field once or twice a month. He also plans to give us some coverage on FanFest, which is coming up soon. We tinkered with this idea a few years back under AMart's leadership, but now we'd like to make it a regular thing -- with pictures, even!
Last but not least, Thomas and Tim are going to be around regularly to help with Facebook and Twitter. Both did a great job during our Twitter Tryouts, which you may or may not have noticed taking place over the last few weeks. Social Media and our Quick Hits section are going to be a huge point of focus for us going forward, and these two guys will be a big part of that.
Please give our new staff members a sincere welcome. They've been asked to tell you a little bit about themselves in the comments section of this post, and I'm sure they'd love to answer any questions you might have.
