The Rockies will play an intrasquad tune-up game at Salt River Fields at Talking Stick on Thursday, one day before the club opens its spring training slate with a game against the Diamondbacks.
Jon Gray, Eddie Butler, Tyler Chatwood and Jayson Aquino are the most intriguing of the nine pitchers who are scheduled to appear in the game, which will begin at 1 p.m. MST. Nick Masset, Christian Bergman, Scott Oberg, Raul Fernandez and Kraig Sitton are also expected to throw, according to MLB.com's Thomas Harding.
The game is open to the public, but concessions will not be available. Fans must enter through the center field or home plate gates.
The Rockies will start Franklin Morales in their Cactus League opener on Friday at Salt River Fields. Tyler Matzek, Adam Ottavino and Rex Brothers are also slated to get some reps against Kirk Gibson's squad. Naturally, we'll have a GameThread for the festivities, so be sure to join in on the fun (it WILL be fun, right?).
