For one of only a few times so far this spring, the Rockies tonight are fielding a lineup similar to what they'll have when the regular season starts.
All the big boppers and everyday starters will be in action when Colorado takes on the Cubs, who will also be playing a fair number of projected regulars. Franklin Morales, who is probably the current leader of the race for the No. 5 starter, will take the hill for the Rockies. Morales has racked up 13 strikeouts in 11⅓ innings this spring but was hit around a bit in his last couple starts, contributing to a 3.97 ERA.
The Cubs will enlist Carlos Villanueva to start against the Rockies' promising lineup. Villanueva has allowed five runs on nine hits, including a homer, in 7⅔ innings of work in Cactus League play.
Tonight also marks the first time this spring that a Rockies game will be shown on ROOT Sports Rocky Mountain, which, of course, has a new-look crew with Ryan Spilborghs now in the on-screen mix. That should be fun to watch because we love Spilly.
