Patrick Saunders of the Denver Post has video of the new party deck at Coors Field, along with an accompanying story behind the $10 million addition to the ballpark. "The Rooftop," as it will be called, "will pizzazz up" Coors, says Rockies owner Dick Monfort.

It's a great addition to a park that is already one of the best in the game. Let's just hope that the one thing that will truly "pizzazz up" the ballpark and entire city -- meaningful games in September -- comes to fruition as well.

Irv Moss of the Post profiles Rockies bullpen catcher Mark Strittmatter, who has spent most of his 22 years in professional baseball wearing purple.

Troy Renck has a blurb on Justin Morneau's early success with the Rockies. Morneau is 5-for-13 at the plate in three games.

Tyler Chatwood threw 113 pitches prior to the Rockies' win on Wednesday and will soon begin a rehab assignment that should last only one start, writes MLB.com's Thomas Harding.

Around the league

Look at these stupid boots the Astros gave Derek Jeter for a farewell gift. That Astros also hung another loss on Jeter's Yankeesthanks in part to the red-hot Dexter Fowler.

This poor A's fan got a face full of cement while trying to catch a foul ball.

The Dodgers appear to be blaming their trip to Australia for the early injuries to Clayton Kershaw and Brian Wilson.
