After a 3-2 loss at Turner Field last night, the Rockies will turn to Juan Nicasio on the mound as they look to even the weekend series against the Braves.
Nicasio has posted a 4.03 ERA in nine starts and 51 1/3 innings this season, with a 2.63 ERA in four starts so far in May. However, he has struggled throughout his career against the Braves, with a 9.82 ERA in four starts against Atlanta. He has been even worse at Turner Field, having allowed 13 runs in 6 1/3 innings there over two starts.
The Braves will make a pair of changes to their lineup against Nicasio, with Evan Gattis behind the plate and batting fifth in place of Gerald Laird and Ramiro Pena in the eight-hole playing second base, sending Dan Uggla to the bench.
Atlanta will counter on the mound with left-hander Mike Minor. This will be Minor's fifth start of the season; he has posted a 3.80 career ERA in his first four outings in 2014. This will also be Minor's fifth career start against the Rockies and he has a 3.96 ERA in 25 innings over the first four.
Against the southpaw Minor, the Rockies have loaded up their lineup with right-handed bats. Brandon Barnes and Drew Stubbs will play left and center field, joining Michael Cuddyer in the Rockies outfield. Charlie Culberson will take Nolan Arenado's place at third base today with Wilin Rosario returning to his post behind the plate. Justin Morneau starts at first base is the only lefty in the Rockies lineup.
