Sunday Rockpile: A key month to require pitching upgrades?

June is going to be a huge month for the Colorado Rockies. Do they need to bring up some reinforcements to help run the gauntlet?

Rob Tringali

Patrick Saunders at the Denver post looks at the key month of June that the Rockies are about to embark on that contains nine games against the Giants and Dodgers.

Saunders also discusses the... let's call them oddities...of the all-star voting results and process.

More from Saunders as he seems to have come around to the notion of calling up Tyler Matzek that our own Jeff Aberle has been leading the charge for. (I'd really rather we had done this already).

One last one from the hard working Patrick Saunders who discusses the relief the team felt when learning that Nolan Arenado's finger will not require surgery.

Woody Paige suggests the Rockies ship out Franklin Morales (fine) and Jhoulys Chacin (huh?...recency bias) in favor of Tyler Matzek and Eddie Butler.

Thomas Harding at MLB.com breaks down Michael Cuddyer's first start at third base since 2010. It will be interesting to see how long the Rockies employ this strategy.
