Rockies outfielder Corey Dickerson is not in the lineup for the team's series opener against the Nationals on Monday. Dickerson was removed in the eighth inning of the Rockies' 10-4 win over the Brewers on Sunday with leg cramping. He said after the game that he would have remained on the field had the Rockies allowed him to do so, lending credence to the belief that the breakout slugger feels well enough to pinch hit if necessary.
Colorado will start Charlie Blackmon, Drew Stubbs and Brandon Barnes in its outfield, and none of the other key starters aside from Dickerson will be missing. The Rockies will need all the offensive firepower they can get against Jordan Zimmermann, who has established himself as one of the best starting pitchers in the National League in recent seasons.
Yohan Flande will make his second major league start. He allowed four runs in five innings in his major league debut last Wednesday. The 28-year-old southpaw left that game with the lead, but the Rockies' bullpen squandered it late in a 9-6 loss to the Cardinals at Coors Field.
