Rockies call up Triple-A pitcher Christian Bergman to start Monday - The Denver Post

The Rockies will turn to RHP Christian Bergman (PuRP 26)  to replace the injured Jordan Lyles in the starting rotation against Atlanta. The 26 year-old Bergman, a 2010 24th rounder out of UC-Irvine, has never been heralded as a prospect but has quietly put up very good numbers at every minor league stop. Notably, Bergman has a 2.04 ERA this year while pitching at altitude in Colorado Springs. Bergman is not on the 40 man roster, therefore a corresponding roster move will have to be made before Monday. Likely candidates include Rob Scahill and Kraig Sitton.

Sore shoulder again keeps Cuddyer from lineup | Rockies.com: News

One potential roster move for Bergman's debut would be to place Michael Cuddyer on the disabled list. Cuddyer was scratched the last two games with soreness in the back of his left shoulder, which he suffered while diving for a ball while playing third base on Thursday night. Cuddyer has been unable to swing a bat since the injury and is not in the lineup for today's game. Also of note is that Wilin Rosario was a last minute scratch from yesterday's lineup for dehydration, per Thomas Harding.

Ringolsby writes about Franklin Morales, who got the win last night thanks to some clutch relief in the 9th and 10th innings. Morales is the long man this bullpen needed at the beginning of the year, and hopefully we can look forward to more outings like that going forward.
