Game Preview: Can we please win a game against the lousy Cubs?

Seriously. One game. They are the Cubs.

David Banks-USA TODAY Sports

The Rockies have now lost two consecutive games against the Cubs, a team they are battling for not-last place in the National League. It feels like three consecutive games after last night's marathon, but it's a new day.

Brett Anderson is going for the Rockies, and he's coming off a couple really excellent starts against the Pirates. We are finally getting the Anderson that was advertised, and it has been a lot of fun to watch. We need him to have a good game here, because I'm really not interested in having the Rockies in danger of a four game sweep against the Chicago freakin' Cubs.

Travis Wood is their guy tonight. He's a solid enough left handed pitcher, been around the block a few times. His 5.06 ERA ain't anything to write home about, but he had a sub-3.50 year last year.

Carlos Gonzalez is dealing with a banged up knee and ankle, so he's out of the lineup again. Apparently his body is made up of damp tissue paper instead of muscle and bone, but I guess that's just an accident of genetics.

Wilin Rosario is getting the day off. Slacker.

Christhian Adames was optioned to make room for Rob Scahill and Josh Rutledge is still ailing, so the Charlie Culberson Experience continues for the Colorado Rockies. Much like Franklin Morales for the rotation, I get the feeling that Culberson must be doing some clandestine sabotage of all his replacements to keep him on the roster. Just kidding. But not really.
