Game Preview: Alfredo Simon vs. Jorge De La Rosa

Leon Halip

Coming home from a 1-5 road trip, the Colorado Rockies will be facing Cincinnati Red's All-Star Alfredo Simon after finding out that Troy Tulowitzki is done for the season and Carlos Gonzalez is also not likely to return.  Hopefully, Jorge De La Rosa will be able to continue his Coors Field dominance as he seeks his fifth straight win in Colorado.

Alfredo Simon has struggled since the All-Star Break (0-4, 4.78 ERA), but he still has been good overall this season (12-7, 3.08ERA) so the Rockies could be in for yet another difficult outing.  The Reds come into Colorado on a two game losing streak and have been average so far, both for the year (60-60) and in the month (6-6).  The problem is that the Rockies would beg for average.

The main hope for the Rockies is that Jorge De La Rosa continues his streak at Coors Field.  He is going for his fifth straigh home win in a row and has the chance to do so if he keeps his ERA near his home average of 3.23 instead of his road average of 5.35.  With Todd Helton's weekend coming up, it sure would be nice for the Rockies to get on a winning streak to get the crowd in the right mood.
