Prospect Roundup: Rockies infielder Trevor Story turns triple play in Tulsa

The Tulsa Drillers turned a triple play this week in Trevor Story's first start at second base. First round pick Forrest Wall is seeing the ball well in Grand Junction. Stats and video highlights are also included in this week's edition of the roundup.

The  Drillers made SportsCenter's Top 10 highlights with a triple play on Friday night. Trailing in the game 7-2, the bases were loaded when Nelson Gonzalez delivered a pitch to Rangers prospect Trever Adams.

Adams turned on the ball, driving it down the third base line, when Jayson Langfels grabbed it, touched third and fired to Trevor Story at second base. Making his first start at second base this season, Story gloved the throw and relayed the ball to Ryan Casteel at first base to complete the triple play.

Story did a good job as the wheel-man and converting the throw to first, considering it was his first start at second base in his  entire minor league career.  The No. 4 ranked Rockies prospect in Purple Row's PuRPs, the Texas native has spent most of his career at shortstop and third base. The right-handed hitter later homered in the game, breaking out of an 0-for-16 slump.

Forrest Wall is smoking hot

The Rockies No. 35 overall pick in the 2014 draft, Forrest Wall is on a power kick this week. Slugging .737 in his last seven days, the second baseman out of Maitland, Florida has two doubles, a triple and a home run in that time span.

Grand Junction Sentinel sports writer Patti Arnold tweeted out about Wall following his near-cycle in Friday's game.

<blockquote class="twitter-tweet" lang="en"><p>However, Forrest Wall has, in his past 4 ABs: HR, 3B, 1B, 2B. All hit hard. Kid&#39;s hot as a pistol. <a href="https://twitter.com/hashtag/GJSentinelSpts?src=hash">#GJSentinelSpts</a></p>&mdash; Patti Arnold (@gjsportswriter) <a href="https://twitter.com/gjsportswriter/statuses/500470059186126848">August 16, 2014</a></blockquote>

The 6-foot-0 176 pound infielder is making a strong debut in Grand Junction and is batting .327 on the season. The Rockies had to pony up to sign the second baseman ranked No. 1 at his position by Baseball America. Wall had already committed to playing at the Univeristy of North Carolina and so the Rockies went above the slot allocation to sign the left-handed hitter for $2 million. During his high school career, Wall was 70-for-71 in stolen base attempts and he has 11 steals in 27 games for Grand Junction.
