Game 3 of the four-game set between the Rockies and Reds has been postponed as the result of a broken water main on Blake Street just outside of the ticket office at Coors Field. The game will be made up as part of a double-header on Sunday. Game 1 will start at its original time, 2:10 p.m. MT, with Game 2 to follow at 7:10.
The decision to postpone the game came from the Denver Office of Emergency Management. The water main break took place sometime between 5:30 and 5:45 p.m. MT. Water in the restrooms and concession stands at Coors Field subsequently did not function, leaving upwards of probably 40,000 people with no way to do their business.
According to an MLB.com source, attendance was expected to be in excess of 45,000 for the Sunday contest, which will feature Todd Helton's jersey retirement ceremony. Separate tickets will be required for the makeup of the postponed game. Gates will open for that contest at approximately 6 p.m.
