Tyler Matzek will make his tenth start of the season today, looking to pitch the Rockies to a win in Detroit.
Matzek had the best start of his major league career last time out against the Pirates at Coors Field, allowing just three hits in seven shutout innings as the Rockies took home an 8-1 win in that contest. He will be looking to build on that tonight against the AL Central leaders.
The Tigers have made just one change to their lineup from last night, with Alex Avila behind the plate and batting eighth in place of Bryan Holaday.
On the mound today for Detroit will be Rick Porcello, whose 3.24 ERA is actually the best in a strong Tigers rotation, not counting recently acquired David Price. He also has a dozen wins in his 20 starts this season.
Carlos Gonzalez will not start tonight because of the ankle injury he suffered yesterday, so Corey Dickerson, who was the Rockies' DH yestersay, will take his spot in the outfield. Justin Morneau will DH for Colorado today, with Wilin Rosario playing first base and Michael McKenry behind the plate.
