Rockies vs. Diamondbacks preview: Oh great, it's Chase Field

Phoenix has not traditionally been a fun place for the Rockies to play.

Joe Camporeale-USA TODAY Sports

The Rockies are back in action on Friday, starting a three-game set with the 55-78 Diamondbacks at Chase Field in Phoenix.

The downtown ballpark has not been friendly to the Rockies in the past. Colorado entered this season 47-92 in the desert, though the Rox have been able to split six contests there thus far in 2014. But that's 50-95 overall, and that's pretty awful.

Fortunately, the Rockies will field their best possible lineup, with Corey Dickerson, Justin Morneau, Charlie Blackmon and the gang starting over the likes of Brandon Barnes, Matt McBride and Charlie Culberson. Christian Bergman will step on a major league mound for the fifth time in his career, and first against the D-Backs. Bergman earned his first career his last time out, allowing four runs in six innings against the Marlins at Coors Field.

Bergman has allowed 16 runs on 32 hits in 21⅓ innings while striking out 11 batters and walking only four.

The D-Backs counter with Josh Collmenter, who owns a respectable 4.05 ERA. I'm going to use this space to accuse Collmenter of being a juggalo because of his hatchet-throwing tendencies. Sorry, Josh.

This game is the MLB.tv Free Game of the Day, so there's no excuse not to tune in and watch (well, besides college football, anyway).
