The Rockies will turn to Tyler Matzek to try to snap a four-game losing streak and even the series in Arizona tonight.
This will be Matzek's 15th big league start of the season, he has posted a 5.14 ERA and 4.34 FIP in 84 innings with the Rockies in 2014, walking 32 and striking out 60.
Matzek will be opposed on the mound by Arizona's Vidal Nuno, who will be making his 10th start for the Diamondbacks this year, with a 3.54 ERA this season in 53 1/3 innings with Arizona. He has walked 12 and struck out 42 in a D'Backs uniform so far this year.
With the pair of southpaws on the mound, both teams have inserted some extra right-handed bats into the lineup. Matt McBride will play first base in place of Justin Morneau for the Rockies, and Nolan Reimold making his Arizona debut in place of Alfredo Marte and Aaron Hill entering the Diamondbacks lineup for Didi Gregorious.
Also, the Diamondbacks are having "Alumni Night" tonight, which means they'll be wearing those hideous purple and teal jerseys they had in the early years of their existence.
First pitch in Phoenix tonight is at 6:10 p.m. Mountain Time.
