Win this series and they will be in the driver's seat to not finish last in the division or the league and pick up the third pick in next years draft. Lose the series, and it will be very hard for them to do better than the Diamondbacks with only six more games after Sunday, thereby giving them the second pick in next year's draft.
Neither pitcher has been able to get a win for their club. Vidal Nuno moved to the Diamondbacks from the Yankees in July and has gone 0-6 in 12 starts for Arizona. Yohan Flande, meanwhile, is 0-5 in 8 starts for the Rockies. With the Rockies offense in overdrive the last two games, Flande has a good chance of being the rookie that walks away from this competition with his first win.
