Rockies rally past Giants, 7-3, in 2015 season finale

Corey Dickerson hit a game-tying, three-run homer in a seven-run ninth inning that propelled the Rockies to a season-ending series win over the Giants.

The Colorado Rockies, highlighted by a three-run home run off the bat of Corey Dickerson, torched the San Francisco Giants for seven runs in the top of the ninth inning in a 7-3 season-ending victory at AT&T Park on Sunday.

Trailing 3-0 entering the final inning, the Rockies put two runners on with one out against Giants reliever George Kontos, whose 0-2 slider to Dickerson caught too much of the zone and, as a result, was yanked over the right field wall. Colorado added four more runs on two-RBI singles from Justin Morneau and Charlie Blackmon in an inning that saw 11 batters step to the plate.

Jose Reyes made two outs in the inning as part of an 0-for-5 performance in what might have been his final game in a Rockies uniform. Carlos Gonzalez, who ultimately may have suited up in purple for the final time, as well, went 2-for-3 with a triple, his first career extra-base hit off of Giants starter Matt Cain.

Rockies relievers combined for six innings of one-run relief after taking over for Christian Bergman, who allowed two runs on six hits and a walk in three frames of work.

Colorado finishes 2015 with a 68-94 record, two games better than its 2014 mark but still tied for the fourth-worst mark in franchise history -- a history that has become littered with a multitude of 90-plus-loss seasons in recent years.

Despite another poor showing overall, the Rockies won 11 of their 19 games against the rival Giants, who will end 2015 with an 84-78 record.

We'll have more on the Rockies' season finale -- and a recap of what we just witnessed over the last six months -- within the coming days. Until then, thanks for sticking with us, discussing the games, fighting over the state of the organization, and all the other thing we as a community enjoy doing. Even though the on-field product once again disappointed all of us, it's been another successful year here at Purple Row, and that's largely because of you (yes, you).
