Rockies pitcher Tyler Matzek will look to bounce back after a shaky first start today against the Chicago White Sox. Matzek was roughed up against the Padres on Sunday, throwing 1.2 innings and giving up four earned runs while walking two and striking out one.
Matzek will be followed by top Rockies pitching prospect Jon Gray, who has looked dominant through his first two spring training appearances. He has allowed only two hits and one walk while striking out five in four innings so far with the club this spring. Gray has also impressed with his fastball velocity, consistently hitting the upper 90's on the radar gun.
Today's matchup will feature a handful of projected Rockies regular season starters, including shortstop Troy Tulowitzki, so it's one that should be fun to watch if you want to get a feel for what the regular season should look like.
