Colorado Rockies 2015 spring training Game No. 12: Jordan Lyles vs. Anthony DeSclafani

Jordan Lyles probably isn't the odd man out of the Rockies' rotation, but he still needs to perform well in order to fend off a pair of prospects breathing down his neck.

Chris Humphreys-USA TODAY Sports

Jordan Lyles will make his third start of the spring when the Colorado Rockies travel to Goodyear to take on the Cincinnati Reds in Cactus League play on Saturday.

Lyles has allowed two runs on two hits and a pair of walks in four total innings. The 24-year-old right-hander has notched a couple of strikeouts.

It's highly unlikely that Lyles will begin the regular season anywhere but in the Rockies' starting rotation, but if Jorge De La Rosa and Jhoulys Chacin prove to be healthy and prospects Jon Gray and Eddie Butler continue to look as impressive as they've been thus far in the desert ... well, I guess you never know.

Here are the lineups for both teams:

With apologiez to Brandon Barnez, Carlos Gonzalez's name is the most exciting one in the lineup today. It will also be interesting to see if Trevor Story can continue his strong start to the spring. Story has as many extra-base hits (three) as strikeouts during Cactus League play and, by all accounts, has looked good at each of the three positions at which he's appeared.
