The New Britain Rock Cats, the Rockies new Double-A affiliate, are getting a new nickname. To unveil the options, they gathered school children and put taco (?) hats on them. The be-tacoed children held up the possibilities on placards. If you can't read them, they are: Choppers River Hogs Praying Mantis Honey Badgers Blue Frogs Screech Owls Hound Dogs Whirlybirds Hedgehogs Yard Goats "Mantis" has three plural possibilities: mantises, mantes, and mantids. I vote for New Britain Praying Mantids for the weirdness of it.
