After dropping the spring’s opener 6-2 to the Diamondbacks, the Rockies will head into the second and final game of the series with a bench-man heavy lineup. Arizona counters with a handful of regulars from last season, including Mark Trumbo who’s been trouble for Rockies pitchers in the past.
The snakes will have veteran Trevor Cahill on the bump, who the Rox have seen plenty of over his three year tenure with Arizona. The sinkerballer is coming off of his shakiest season in the big leagues, going 3-12 with a 5.61 ERA over 32 appearances in 2014. Rockies hitters will get a look at the DBacks' top prospect, Archie Bradley, amongst others in later innings.
A big game today for the Rockies in that they’ll start Jhoulys Chacin for the first time in a game since a troublesome shoulder limited the righty to just 11 starts last year. Though cleared to throw, Chacin hasn’t yet demonstrated he’s back to his 2013 form -- the Denver Post’s Nick Groke didn’t think so, at least.
