Shortstop Troy Tulowitzki and outfielder Carlos Gonzalez are back in the Rockies lineup today for the first time since July 19 and August 8, respectively.
For today's game against the Reds, Gonzalez will bat second and play right field and Tulowitzki will hit third and play his customary shortstop position. Third baseman Nolan Arenado will bat cleanup today for the Rockies. Also of note today in the Rockies lineup is the presence of Wilin Rosario behind the plate and Kyle Parker in left field. Thomas Harding reports that top prospect David Dahl is also in uniform and may see action today.
Starting on the mound for Colorado today is right-hander Jordan Lyles, but the highlight among today's scheduled pitchers is the 2015 debut of lefty Rex Brothers, who struggled in 2014 but has worked extensively with new bullpen coach Darren Holmes in the offseason to try to right the ship.
The Reds will bring a split squad to Salt River Fields at Talking Stick and have left most of the regulars at home for today's game against the Angels, with second baseman Brandon Phillips really the only expected starter in the lineup against the Rockies. Southpaw David Holmberg will start on the mound for Cincinnati.
