Colorado Rockies Opening Day active roster finalized

The Opening Day active roster is set.

Matt Kartozian-USA TODAY Sports

The final question mark about the Rockies' Opening Day active roster was whether or not Eddie Butler would be with the team. Butler will be in the rotation and is set to start on Wednesday in Milwaukee. It will be his fourth career major league start.

Some of the comments in yesterday's game summary identified the mixed messages we, and Eddie Butler, were hearing this past weekend. It was always unclear whether or not his final start was an audition for a spot, a final tune-up, or a health check. Now, at least, he knows that he's earned a rotation spot.

Here's hoping he never lets it go.

Below is a quick look at the finalized 25-man roster heading in to the first week of the season. If you're ever wondering what any of the rosters in the Rockies' system looks like, don't ask me. Go to Rockies Roster.

Starters: Nick Hundley, Justin Morneau, DJ LeMahieu, Nolan Arenado, Troy Tulowitzki, Corey Dickerson, Charlie Blackmon, Carlos Gonzalez

Bench: Wilin Rosario, Michael McKenry, Daniel Descalso, Rafael Ynoa, Drew Stubbs

Starting pitchers: Kyle Kendrick, Jordan Lyles, Eddie Butler, Tyler Matzek, Christian Bergman

Middle relief: Rafael Betancourt, Brooks Brown, Christian Friedrich (L)

Late relief: John Axford, Adam Ottavino, Boone Logan (L), LaTroy Hawkins

Disabled list (probable): Jorge De La Rosa, David Hale

The Rockies will start the season with a four man rotation. Christian Bergman will likely slot into the starting rotation on April 14 and will stay there until Jorge De La Rosa returns.
