Colorado Rockies lose to Dodgers 9-5

The Rockies lost their ninth consecutive game today, as they fell 9-5 to the Dodgers.

After three innings, it looked like a pitchers duel. Jorge De La Rosa was sharp, and Clayton Kershaw was in command of his entire arsenal of pitches. Things changed in the fourth. The Dodgers entered the inning up 1-0. De La Rosa struck out Alex Guerrero to record the second out of the inning. With a runner on second, De La Rosa proceeded to walk three consecutive batters to force in a run. He came back out in the fifth inning and walked three more. In all, after the Guerrero strike out in the fourth, 24 out of De La Rosa's next 32 pitches were balls. Walt Weiss removed De La Rosa, and Christian Bergman gave up a bases clearing double to Adrian Gonzalez to tie the game at five. In all, the Rockies walked ten batters on the day, and five of them eventually scored.

The Rockies scored five runs off of Kershaw and had a real chance to steal a win if it weren't for the walks. The Rockies put up a five spot in the fifth inning on Kershaw. They did not exactly put on a hitting clinic while doing so, but runs against Kershaw rarely take such a form. They got the runs with squibs and squabs, including a two run single by noted masher Jorge De La Rosa, though Wilin Rosario did have a hard hit single to left field.

There was no scoring in the sixth and seventh. Scott Oberg recorded the final two outs of the seventh and came back out for the eighth inning. Oberg recorded an out, but he gave up a single and a Justin Turner two run home run. The Dodgers added two more in the inning to make it a 9-5 game.
