Game 23 preview: Colorado Rockies vs. San Diego Padres, Jorge De La Rosa vs. Brandon Morrow

After an ugly game Friday night, the Rockies will send nominal ace Jorge De La Rosa to the mound to try and prevent the team from falling below .500 for the first time in 2015. It will be De La Rosa's third start of the season, and his first start on the road. After an unseemly two inning, nine run, outing to start the season against these same San Diego Padres to open the season, De La Rosa came back to pitch five quality innings last Saturday against the Giants, during which he threw 90 pitches. He reached that mark after he experienced faltering command in the fifth inning. Expect De La Rosa to be stretched out a little bit more today. He might be limited to 100 pitches or so. Let's hope that's enough to make it through at least six innings—and maybe even with the lead!

Brandon Morrow will make his fifth start of the season and the second against the Rockies. On April 21 at Coors Field, Morrow tossed six innings and allowed five runs on six hits. It was not a great showing, although the Padres did end up winning that game 7-6. On the season so far, Morrow has a 2.67 ERA in 27 innings pitched.

The Padres will roll out an all-right-handed lineup against lefty De La Rosa. In 2014, righties hit .244/.328/.432 against De La Rosa. Charlie Blackmon returns to the lineup tonight after missing yesterday's game with a minor illness.
