The Colorado Rockies desperately need a winning streak after that hellacious 10 game slide; Eddie Butler will try to get one started tonight against the Philadelphia Phillies. The Rockies haven't won two games in a row since April 23-24.
Butler got roughed up in his last start against the Dodgers, going just 2 2/3 innings. If he can harness his command he could be the fifth straight Rockie to throw a quality start.
Opposing him is rookie Severino Gonzalez, called up from the minors after Chad Billingsly was put on the DL. He has just two career games under his belt and a 10.71 ERA. He had a 4.34 ERA for the Phillies' Triple-A club in five starts this year as well, but posted a miniscule 4.97 K/9.
This is it folks. The Rockies can tie the major league record for consecutive 10+ strikeout games tonight with their eighth. They would have to do it against a guy who strikes out fewer than five per nine innings in Triple-A. And Drew Stubbs won't even be around to contribute! If the Rockies somehow whiff 10+ times against this guy they have really and truly earned that dubious record. Honestly, I hope it happens.

Ben Paulsen is getting his first big league start of the year after his recall from Triple-A. He'll man left field.
