After dropping game three last night, the Rockies will send Jorge De La Rosa to the mound to avoid the series loss against the one team in baseball with a lower projected playoff probability, as per FanGraphs.
De La Rosa put together a brilliant start in his last appearance -- a 7-1 victory over the Dodgers. The Rockies’ ace shut out the division leaders, surrendering just two hits in 7 1/3 innings, no walks and three strikeouts. De La Rosa enters today’s game with a 1-2 record and 6.56 ERA.
Carlos Ruiz has the Phillies’ best numbers against Jorge De La Rosa -- 6 hits in 11 at bats. Grady Sizemore owns two homeruns in his career off of the lefty.
The Phillies will counter with veteran Jerome Williams, a flyball pitcher who has struggled a bit with left handed batters this season. Williams is 3-3 on the year with a 5.02 ERA, but owns an atrocious 8.16 ERA in three road starts.
