Colorado Rockies seek series split against the Philadelphia Phillies

The Rockies look to split the series with the Phillies in today’s mid-day matchup.

Ron Chenoy-USA TODAY Sports

After dropping game three last night, the Rockies will send Jorge De La Rosa to the mound to avoid the series loss against the one team in baseball with a lower projected playoff probability, as per FanGraphs.

De La Rosa put together a brilliant start in his last appearance -- a 7-1 victory over the Dodgers. The Rockies’ ace shut out the division leaders, surrendering just two hits in 7 1/3 innings, no walks and three strikeouts. De La Rosa enters today’s game with a 1-2 record and 6.56 ERA.

Carlos Ruiz has the Phillies’ best numbers against Jorge De La Rosa -- 6 hits in 11 at bats. Grady Sizemore owns two homeruns in his career off of the lefty.

The Phillies will counter with veteran Jerome Williams, a flyball pitcher who has struggled a bit with left handed batters this season. Williams is 3-3 on the year with a 5.02 ERA, but owns an atrocious 8.16 ERA in three road starts.

Here’s how the Rockies and the Phillies will lineup this afternoon:
