The Colorado Rockies will face Phillies ace Cole Hamels for the second time tonight in the opener of a three-game series at Citizens Bank Park.
Hamels' first start against the Rockies this season came on May 18 at Coors Field, he pitched 7⅓ innings, allowing a run on six hits with a walk and seven strikeouts in a 4-3 Phillies win.
The Rockies will use an even more right-handed heavy lineup than they did against Hamels last week, with both Charlie Blackmon and Ben Paulsen both on the bench tonight.
That means right-handed hitting Brandon Barnes will be in Blackmon's spot tonight, leading off and playing center field. It also puts Wilin Rosario at first base, batting sixth, and switch-hitting Rafael Ynoa in left field batting eighth.
On the mound for the Rockies is right-hander Chad Bettis, who will be making his fourth start of the season. This will also be Bettis' second start against the Phillies in 2015, as he allowed three runs on eight hits in six innings against the Phillies at Coors Field on May 19, walking none and striking out five.
Left fielder Cody Asche returns to the Phillies Lineup tonight from a stint on the disabled list and will bat sixth against Bettis tonight. He is one of six left-handed hitters in the Philadelphia lineup tonight, with third baseman Maikel Franco and catcher Carlos Ruiz as the only righties playing for the Phillies tonight.
First pitch is at 5:05 p.m. Mountain time.
