Colorado Rockies' win streak on the line as they face off against Clayton Kershaw and the Los Angeles Dodgers

A victory over Clayton Kershaw would be huge in building more momentum as the Rockies inch towards .500.

Kyle Kendrick will square off against arguably the best pitcher in baseball, Clayton Kershaw.

The Rockies have played great baseball as of late, mostly due to pitching, as Rockies starting pitchers have had an ERA of 3.52 over the last 16 games. Kendrick has been no exception. Kendrick has gone at least seven innings in three of his last four starts, and has allowed no more than four runs in those starts. These numbers are exactly what the Rockies wanted when they signed him this offseason.

Kendrick will need to pitch extra careful to slugger Adrian Gonzalez, who has a career .389 batting average in 18 at bats against Kendrick. Then again, all pitchers should pitch carefully to Gonzalez who is hitting .324/.400/.591 with ten home runs on the year.

Brandon Barnes will get the start in right field in place of left-handed Carlos Gonzalez. Gonzalez has been struggling for the majority of the season, although he has hit .375 over his last four games. CarGo has a .182 batting average against Kershaw in his career, and it's likely the reason he will be on the bench tonight.

Nolan Arenado will hit cleanup tonight while he looks to continue his hot streak, as he's gone 12-for-30 with five home runs over his last seven games.

The Rockies will try to get after Clayton Kershaw, who has dominated the Rockies in his career with a record of 15-5 and an ERA of 3.29. The Rockies were able to string together hits and get five runs in 5.2 innings last time he was in Denver, but ultimately ended up losing that game 9-5.
