CarGo optimistic he'll play Tuesday | rockies.com
X-rays on Carlos Gonzalez's injured left hand were negative, meaning the outfielder could be back in the lineup when the Rockies take on the Diamondbacks tonight at Coors Field.
Gonzalez, whose injury is being described as a "mild sprain," is experiencing soreness in a new place in the hand that has been banged up before. The two-time All-Star isn't worried about another trip to the disabled list, though, and seems to believe it's more possible than not that he'll be back in the lineup without missing any time.
Ben Paulsen passing the test at first base for Rockies - The Denver Post
Nick Groke profiles Paulsen, who is raking at the big league level for the second consecutive season. Last year, Paulsen hit .317/.348/.571 -- good for a 139 OPS+ -- in limited duty. The 27-year-old Clemson alum has put up nearly identical production in 2015 while safely en route to doubling his plate appearances from last year.
Paulsen enters Tuesday with a .312/.357/.580 (140 OPS+) line in 168 career trips to the plate. The Rockies have really limited his exposure against left-handed pitchers, though Paulsen has three home runs in 20 career PAs against them.
