The Rockies play the Marlins this afternoon in a rare Saturday day game at Coors Field.

Lefty Chris Rusin will make his second start and third appearance for the Rockies this season. His raw figures are great: he has a preeeeety good 0.77 ERA in 11.2 innings pitched. That number in itself is obviously not a reflection of Rusin's talent, but we can also point to his .222 BABIP against and 92 percent strand rate. Today will be the 28 year old's sixteenth career start. As a starter, he has a career 4.46 ERA in 103 innings. Rusin has never faced the Marlins.

Fellow 28 year old David Phelps gets the start for the Marlins. Phelps came up with the Yankees, who sent Phelps to Miami along with Martin Prado in exchange for Nathan Eovaldi this past offseason. Phelps will be making his twelfth start of the season. Thus far, he has a 3.50 ERA and a much more normal .289 BABIP against and 69 percent strand rate. Phelps will be making his second career start against the Rockies. His first, coming in 2013 as a member of the Yankees, was also at Coors Field. In that game, Phelps gave up two runs in six innings of work in what ended up being a Yankees win over the Rockies.

Troy Tulowitzki and Nick Hundley are both getting the day off. Marlins manager Dan Jennings is rudely keeping Giancarlo Stanton in the lineup.
