Rockies lose 4-1; offense AWOL in Oakland

In scoring four total runs in the three game series, the Rockies are lucky to escape with one win

Kelley L Cox-USA TODAY Sports

The Rockies' bats were totally silent yet again in Oakland this afternoon as they dropped the rubber match against the Oakland A's. The 4-1 snoozer was not televised at least.

Chad Bettis didn't have a particularly sharp game, working 5 2/3 innings and giving up three runs. He allowed seven hits and walked four while striking out four. He kept the game reachable, but when the bats are totally asleep, it doesn't matter if Clayton Kershaw is pitching for you.

The lone Rockies run came off back-to-back doubles from Ben Paulsen and Nick Hundley in the fourth inning.

Christian Friedrich allowed a run in his 2/3 of an inning, while Justin Miller wrapped up the game with 1 2/3 scoreless.

The Rockies didn't have any luck against Oakland pitching, as Jesse Hahn struck out six and allowed just four hits in six inning. Drew Pomeranz got some revenge against his former team with 1 2/3 scoreless innings.

So that's it. Another bad day at the yard for the Rockies, who dip to 10 games below .500. Get 'em tomorrow.
