Rockies catching prospect Dom Nunez homers in Asheville win

The Tourists were the only stateside team in action in the Rockies' organization on Tuesday.

Shane Hoelscher had three hits and Dom Nunez (PuRP No. 13) hit a two-run homer to lead the Asheville Tourists to an 8-2 victory over Savannah.

The Low-A Tourists, the lone Colorado Rockies stateside affiliate in action on All-Star Tuesday, racked up 11 hits en route to overcoming some sloppy play on defense. Nunez started the scoring with his first-inning blast. Hoelscher doubled and scored twice as part of his big day at the plate, and leadoff hitter Omar Carrizales had two hits and two runs batted in, raising his average to .339 on the season.

Carlos Polanco earned the win by allowing just one earned run on five hits and two walks in five innings. He struck out two. Yoely Bello and Shane Halley combined for four innings of scoreless relief.

Asheville improved to 44-44 with the win. The Tourists are 15-7 since the South Atlantic League's All-Star break.
