The Colorado Rockies hope to bounce back after failing to solve Johnny Cueto

The Rockies host the Reds in the rubber match of their three-game series at 2:10 MT.

Matt Kartozian-USA TODAY Sports

A day after being confounded by Reds' ace Johnny Cueto, the Colorado Rockies (41-54) will look to pick things back up as they take on the Reds (43-52) in the conclusion of their three-game series at Coors Field.

Kyle Kendrick (3-11) gets the call for the Rockies and will be looking to bounce back after a poor start against the Rangers last Tuesday in which he lasted just 4.1 innings. The 30-year-old righty now has an ugly ERA of 6.12 and a 5.99 FIP as he's struggled mightily. The veteran is allowing a career-worst 2.01 HR/9 and has been taken deep a league-high 24 times. He pitched well in his most recent start against the Reds, however, allowing four runs through 7.1 innings.

Kendrick will be opposed by RHP Michael Lorenzen (3-4), who owns an ERA of 3.77. The 23-year-old pitcher has had a mixed start to his MLB-career, but will hope to replicate his start against the Rockies earlier in the season in which he allowed one run in seven innings. Lorenzen has a four-pitch repertoire that includes a fastball, slider, curve, and change. The former outfielder has struggled with his command this year, walking 4.95 per nine.

Nolan Arenado will hit fourth for the Rockies tonight, thankfully receiving positive news after being hit last night. Star shortstop Troy Tulowitzki, batting .305/.353/.478, will hit third. Below replacement-level utility infielder Daniel Descalso, batting .202/.256/.284, will hit seventh. Descalso owns a wRC+ of 28, by the way. Hooray for Tulo off-days!
