Colorado Rockies welcome shortstop Jose Reyes into the fold

The newest Rockie had a hit and a stolen base in his debut against the Cubs.

Patrick Saunders talked to Rockies shortstop Jose Reyes, who said he is looking to be productive and help the Rockies win as he returns to the National League.

Reyes also talked to Thomas Harding, saying that he was solely focused on winning in Colorado, having only been to the playoffs once in his career so far, that playoff berth coming with the Mets in 2006.

Unfortunately, the Rockies dropped Reyes' debut, 3-2, to the Chicago Cubs as Jon Lester struck out 14. The new Rockies shortstop did have a hit, a walk and a stolen base in the game.

While Reyes did have a hit in his debut, his middle infield partner, second baseman DJ LeMahieu, did not, snapping his 18-game hitting streak.

Meanwhile, in Albuquerque, top prospect Jon Gray put together one of his best performances to date with the Isotopes, pitching five shutout innings, allowing three hits and a walk while striking out eight. He threw 70 pitches, 50 for strikes before being pulled a bit early, having done some of his warmup routine twice thanks to a rain delay.
