Dickerson to DL with fractured ribs - Rockies.com
The Rockies’ heavy-hitting left fielder has hit the disabled list for the third time of the 2015 season. Corey Dickerson exited Thursday’s game after the fifth inning, when a diving attempt at a Jason Heyward triple left Dickerson writing in pain in the outfield grass. What was originally being called a right rib contusion has since been diagnosed as non-displaced fractures in two of his ribs. As Thomas Harding of MLB.com reports, there is no timetable yet for Dickerson’s return, but it appears Kyle Parker -- who did not play in Friday’s game in Albuquerque -- will fill in during his absence. Parker is batting .280/.326/.431 in 93 games with the Albuquerque Isotopes.
John Axford out as Rockies closer - The Denver Post
Axford’s abysmal July found him pulled from his role as the Rockies’ ninth inning man. The veteran right hander blew his fourth game in five appearances Thursday night before manager Walt Weiss stepped in. Weiss has not named a replacement, but has said the club has the options with Rafael Betancourt, Tommy Kahnle and Justin Miller. Patrick Saunders of The Denver Post has quotes from Axford and Weiss on the matter.
Rockies face uncertain path following Deadline - Rockies.com

What appeared to be the first domino to fall in a full blown rebuild, was not met with any further action, leaving the baseball community very unsure of what Bridich intends to do moving forward. The unusual situation puts a question mark on the organization’s intentions for next year and beyond.

22-year old Trevor Story is receiving high praise from his hitting coach, Dave Hajek, who believes Story is the shortstop of the future. With the show he has put on this season in both Double-A New Britain and Triple-A Albuquerque, it would be hard to say otherwise.

Colorado Rockies’ LHP Chris Rusin is tough and I like it - RoxPile
As Bobby DeMuro of RoxPile writes, Chris Rusin may not factor much into the Rockies rotation of the future, but the work he has done for the team this season has not gone unnoticed. Since stepping in for an injured Jordan Lyles in late May, Rusin is 3-4 with a 4.61 ERA. His numbers aren’t great at a glance, but Rusin has provided in ways the Rockies need most -- not walking batters and offense. Rusin owns a .261 batting average on the year.
