Carlos Gonzalez out of Tuesday's Rockies game with right knee soreness - The Denver Post
CarGo sat out the Rockies' win over the Braves on Tuesday with a sore right knee, an injury that occurred when the star outfielder slid into the wall while making a catch in the third inning of the series opener.
Gonzalez was pulled from that game in the sixth inning, briefly sending Rockies Twitter into a frenzy of waiver trade speculation. But with only five days left to make a trade during the period that would allow a team to place Gonzalez on its postseason roster, it's highly likely that No. 5 remains in purple pinstripes for the remainder of this season.
DJ LeMahieu keeps on hitting for Rockies | MLB.com

On a related note, I came across an article, which can only be described as a steaming pile of doo doo, on a local radio website yesterday about how the Rockies are a big joke because they have a lot of promotions at the ballpark down the stretch. Nevermind for a minute that (1) every team does this when kids go back to school, and (2) if the Rockies purposely did it because they knew they wouldn't be playing relevant baseball, it would actually be one of the most promising things they've done in years. Why? It signifies the acknowledgement of the front office before the season that a rebuild was/is necessary.
