Tourists win the first of a three game series in the first round of the SAL postseason

The Tourists came one step closer to securing a spot in the SAL championship series.

The Asheville Tourists took the first game of their postseason series against the Savannah Sand Gnats 5-to-1. It's a three game set, so the Tourists will try to clinch a spot in the SAL championship series when the teams meet again on Friday.

Jesus Tinoco just won't stop being awesome. The Third Prospect has been extremely impressive since joining the Tourists, and he continued making noise last night. He pitched 7 2/3 innings and allowed just one run. Just as important, he struck out six batters and didn't walk a single one. While last night's game isn't included in these stats, his 2015 numbers in two organizations are more than enough to dream on: a 2.97 ERA with a 2.2 BB/9 and a 7.8 K/9. If the Tourists make it to the championship series, he'll get another start. If not, then Tinoco's likely to begin the 2016 season in High-A Modesto.

Fellow PuRP Forrest Wall assisted on offense. Wall's two-run homer in the Tourists' three-run fourth inning was enough to secure the win. Roberto Ramos also dingered as part of a 3-for-4 day. Ramos also added a double. He, like Wall, drove in two runs and scored one.

Carlos Polanco will get the ball for the Tourists in game two on Friday night.
