Murphy split this season between Double-A New Britain and Triple-A Albuquerque, hitting .256/.314/.490 with 20 home runs, seven of which came in 33 games with the Isotopes.
He is available tonight, but Murphy is not in the Rockies lineup against the Mariners and starter Hisashi Iwakuma. Dustin Garneau will do the catching tonight and bat eighth.
Corey Dickerson will bat second tonight behind Charlie Blackmon with Jose Reyes getting the day off, replaced by Daniel Descalso and not Cristhian Adames for reasons that continue to mystify observers. Descalso will bat ninth.
Ben Paulsen will get the start at first base for the Rockies, batting seventh, while Justin Morneau will be the DH and bat sixth.
Like the Rockies, the Mariners are playing out the string and have several lesser-known names in the lineup tonight against Rockies starter Chad Bettis, namely leadoff hitter James Jones, who plays center field, and catcher John Hicks who bats ninth.
Seattle does have the dangerous trip through the heart of the order with Kyle Seager, Nelson Cruz and Robinson Cano batting second, third and fourth.
First pitch at Safeco Field tonight will be at 8:10 p.m. Mountain time.
