The Colorado Rockies will open their final homestand of the season with Chad Bettis on the mound against Ian Kennedy and the San Diego Padres.
Bettis will be making his 18th start of the season. He has pitched 98 innings in his first 17, posting a 4.59 ERA and 1.42 WHIP, walking 36 and striking out 80.
It will also be Bettis' second start of the season against San Diego. He allowed three runs on three hits in six innings, walking three and striking out five in a 5-4 Rockies loss at Petco Park on June 18.
The Padres lineup he faces has few surprises, though Jedd Gyorko will be making just his 20th start of the season at shortstop with Cory Spangenberg at second base.
Ian Kennedy will take the mound for the Padres tonight, who has a 4.28 ERA and 1.28 WHIP in 27 starts this season. It will be his fourth start against the Rockies in 2015, he has a 3.57 ERA in 17⅔ innings against Colorado this year. However, he has been quite successful against the Rockies in his career, with a 2.96 ERA in 21 starts against them, including a 3.02 ERA in nine starts at Coors Field.
He will face a Rockies lineup that looks similar to the one Colorado had on Opening Day, though Jose Reyes is at shortstop and Dustin Garneau is behind the plate.
First pitch at Coors Field tonight is at 6:40 p.m. Mountain time.
