Storyline to probably take place tonight as the Rockies face the Padres

The Rockies face the Padres in the second of a three game set tonight. Stories about the game will happen.

The Rockies and Padres square off tonight in a game that will probably include stories large and small.

Twenty nine year-old lefty Yohan Flande starts for the Rockies tonight. Some stories might revolve around him—they also might not. It will be Flande's tenth start of the season for the Rockies. That's something. He has a 4.95 ERA and a 5.82 FIP. Presumably, ERA estimators say that he's a little bit better or a little worse than his ERA. They also say that the difference is negligible for a 29 year-old lefty with 122 big league innings. Presumably.

Here's a story: The Padres will also send a left hander to the mound. It's Robbie Erlin. Does that do it? No? Anyhow: The 24 year-old Erlin makes his eleventh start of the season for the Padres. He comes into the game with a 4.99 ERA and a 3.69 FIP. Possibly, there's a story in between those numbers. Also possibly, Erlin won't even be one of those players who randomly pops into your head ten years from now (omg remember Andy Ashby!?).

There is Tom Murphy, but right now it both looks and feels like he's not the answer behind the plate in the long-term. But I do look forward to finding out more. That's a story. Maybe he'll do something tonight. Do a story thing, Tom! There's also Kyle Parker. The emerging story there is piling evidence that there was a pretty good reason he was not #freed sooner.

Reverse standings can story: The Rockies have 62 wins, which is tied with the Brewers and Reds for third fewest in baseball, though the Rockies and Brewers have played one more game than the Reds.

These and other stories to continue tomorrow.
